Kolkandoli temple is one of the famous temple in Jammu which is on the old NH-1 that is passing through Nagrota. This temple is approximately 18 Kms from Jammu city. Kolkandoli temple is supposed to be first stop before one takes the pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi.

Kolkandoli temple is a temple of Mata Vaishno Devi. Mata Rani has been established there in the form of pindi. It is also believed that those who can’t visit Vaishno Devi, Katra can visit Kolkandoli temle to get the blessings of Mata Rani.
History of Kolkandoli Temple
The name of Kolkandoli temple has been formed by two words Kol which means bowl and Kandoli which means marbles. According to Legends, Vaishno Devi Mata came here when she was a 5 years old child and stayed there for 12 years. She did penance for good deeds and after that she settled herself here in the form of pindi. Goddess then appeared in front of her devotees in the form of pindi and fulfilled all the wishes of her devotees. It has been also said that one day Mahamaya made 56 types of food and offered it to 33 crore deities in silver bowl and then Goddess Vaishno Shook a bowl -Koli on to the ground and water started coming out of earth and all those deities drank water from there. During Navratras the temple is decorated with flowers and lights. The atmosphere of the temple is very peaceful. It is also believed that flowers offered by devotees that has been turned into Bhasam (Vibhuti) treats all kind of skin diseases if applied on the affected areas of the skin.

The Temple opens early morning at 5:00 a.m IST and closes at 9:00 p.m IST at night.

The best time to visit this temple is in March or April and September or October in Festival time. The temple gets little crowded during festive days but this is the time to visit and see this beautiful temple.

Our Review :
We visited this temple and had beautiful darshan of devi pindi. We went in Navratras and the temple was covered with beautiful flowers and was so cleaned. We all seeked the blessings of Divine Goddess and took water from the well and sprinkled it all over our body, it gave a peaceful feeling within. Visit this ancient temple and get the blessing of Goddess.
