Kishtwar National Park Wildlife Sanctuary

Kishtwar National Park is situated in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. People of different racial groups are living in this district which includes Kashmiris, Thakurs, Gujars, Rajputs, and Brahmans. Kishtwar National Park is bounded by the Rinnai river to the north, by Kibar Nala catchment to the south, by the main divide of Great Himalayas to the east, and by Marwa river to the west. The national park of Kishtwar attracts nature and wildlife lovers.

Kishtwar National Park

Kishtwar National Park has been spread over the area of 2190 sq km. This national park which is also known as Kishtwar High Altitude National is one of the major wildlife destinations in Jammu & Kashmir. This national park also has Forest Rest Houses which are available in  Ikhala, Sounder, Sirshi, and Yourdu (Marwah). The national park attracts the visitor with its rich variety of flora and fauna. This park is well known for the thrilling views of musk deer and Himalayan brown bear. This wildlife sanctuary offers great trekking opportunities while adding more to the thrilling experiences.

History of Kishtwar National Park

On February 4, 1981, Kishtwar National Park was declared as a national park.

How to Reach Kishtwar National Park :

Buses and cab facilities are available till Ikhala which is generally called Tangdoor by locals. From Ikhala, one can either walk or go on ponies to Kishtwar National Park.

Best Time to Visit Kishtwar National Park

The best time to visit this place is in the months between September to May where you would find animal sighting and birdwatching in Kishtwar National Park.
