Head Constable got arrested for accepting bribe

Head Constable Mohd Rafiq of police station Akhnoor in district Jammu was arrested today by Anti-Corruption Bureau Jammu (ACB), he was caught red handed while taking a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant.

The complainant in his complaint to Anti-Corruption Bureau Jammu alleged that on October 7, 2020, his vehicle was hit by an Army vehicle at Tanda Akhnoor that resulted into injuries to him. At the same, a case was registered at Police Station, Akhnoor.

In the above case, Investigating Officer whose name is HC Mohd Rafiq of P/S Akhnoor demanded an amount of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant on the pretext that he will prepare the charge sheet against the Army vehicle driver. The Head Constable Mohd Rafiq also threatened to produce challan against the complainant in case he did not pay him Rs. 10,000.

On the basis of this complaint, a case FIR No. 20/2020 U/S 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018 r/w PC Act 1988 was registered at PS ACB Jammu.

A trap was laid down by the team in which the accused HC Mohd Rafiq of Police Station Akhnoor was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000 from the complainant.
