Bhairavnath Temple is near Vaishno Devi Bhawan. This temple is dedicated to a saint whose name was Bhairav. After visiting Vaishno Mata Bhawan, people in their journey back visit Bhairavnath temple to complete one’s journey. Bhairavnath Temple is also known by the name Bhairo Ghati Mandir.

History of Bhairavnath Temple

Bhairavnath was a tantric who used to do black magic. Bhairavnath wanted to kill Vaishno Devi Mata, so he followed her and tried to attacked her but she took the avtar of Kali Mata and showed him her power. Mata Kali took him under her feet and that’s when Bhairavnath realised that Mata Rani is not an ordinary girl. So after realizing this Bhairavnath asked Mata Vaishno Devi to forgive him and confessed Mata Rani that he wanted to kill her so that he could attain salvation. Mata Rani got impressed by his honesty and freed him, not only this, Devi Mata blessed him to have a shrine by the side of her shrine. Mata Rani blessed her by saying that those who would visit her will visit his shrine as well to complete the yatra. Now devotees first visit Vaishno Mata shrine and then to complete the yatra goes to the Bhairavnath Shrine and takes his blessings.

Distance from Vaishno Devi Bhawan to Bhairavnath Temple

The distance from Vaishno Devi Bhawan to Bhairavnath temple is around 1.5 km but it’s at a peak of the mountain so it takes approximately 3 hours to reach this temple by foot.

Our Review

Journey to this temple is little tough as it is at a peak of the mountain but the atmosphere makes it pleasing. The belief of people in Mata Rani and deities are so strong that they don’t find the journey tough. We had amazing time during this trip.
